  • Good Lord!

    Hello Friends,

What a crazy house this is and will continue to be.. Lee, Shelby and Katie will be here ALL next week. Connor comes over for the weekend and some days next week, but not sure which ones yet. Trying to get all the stuff ready for Thanksgiving next week. Still missing a few items, but I did manage to get more paper plates, hot cocoa and TP! You can tell where MY priorities are.. LOL.. Jackson will be over to visit, too..

I have been trying to get in the Christmas mood and get the rest of my shopping done, but I have ZERO ideas and no mood to do it. I just don't know what to get anyone and the grandkids have plenty of toys.. I dunno.. Maybe some ideas will fall into play. I am kinda hoping for some GOOD deals on Black Friday that I can order over the internet and get free shipping, too! That way I can order in my PJ's and enjoy staying home.. Nothing is worth getting to the store at 4 AM.. Are you reading this, Warweasel?? I know you are gonna be shopping early... LOL..

Weather is getting goofy here. Supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow and maybe some serious cold stuff next week.. I don't care.. I just want to be able to use the fireplace and enjoy the family time.

Miss Emma is cooking right along. She should be here Dec. 28th according to the dr. She will have a new cousin, compliments of Trav and Steph, around July 23rd next year, so we will have another one to hug one! I am thrilled.Grandbaby #7 (at least...)

Well, I gotta run. It is blue jeans, Tshirt and tennis shoes for work tomorrow and a rainout would be nice!

Hope yall have a great weekend and enjoy your weather, wherever you are.

    No worries, Mates!

  • Relaxing..

    Hello Friends,

Rex and I are in Corpus Christi, TX again for his annual business trip. Being away from everything is nice, but I sure miss my bed. Post cards have been mailed to all of the grandbabies. Today I am loafing again because I have seen all the sights here and it is supposed to rain. Rex is in class now and I have been on Facebook/Farmville, too and just surfing the net.  Do any of you Xangans play Farmville on Facebook? I can always use another neighbor.

Watched my Bold and the Beautiful eppy that I missed yesterday. Checked in with all the kids and everything is fine at home. Maybe there will be a movie worth renting tonight. Last night it was NCIS, as usual. Great show again.

Can't believe it is almost the end of October. Wow.. Time is flying by.

Congrats to Sweets on the birth of her little boy, Hayden, yesterday. He is really a pretty baby with tons of hair. Emma will be here about the end of the year and I can't wait to hug on her.

Well, I am off to go visit some blogs. Take care.

    No worries, Mates!

  • Family updates..

    Hello Friends,

Been crazy as usual around here. Last week Rex and I celebrated our 38th anniversary. I got a dozen yellow roses with balloons and a box of chocolates! We went to Outback for a delicious dinner.

Yesterday, Steph and Heather had a surprise (well, almost) 30th birthday party for Travis, who is a #1 Astros fan, so everything they could find with Astros on it was there! The menu was everything you can eat at a baseball game.. We had peanuts, pretzels, iced down long neck beer, sodas, ice cream, hot dogs, chili dogs, nachos, pickles, chips and an Astros pinata and an Astros jersey birthday cake! Love these plates!

Here is Uncle Ricky (my sweet brother), Heather and Rick (doing the #$%^ bunny ears again on Heather's head).. I thought by now he might outgrow that, but I guess not..

Here is Rex's sister, Waneda, talking with Heather.. Miss Emma is getting big.. Can't wait to hug her.

Anyway, the weather was chilly yesterday and just great for an outside party. Steph out did herself and between her and Heather making everything, the party was a huge hit! We came home exhausted and Trav had a great time. Many of his friends drove in from out of town to be there, as did family members, too.

I am so loving this drizzly, chilly Fall weather. The rest of the weekend we just loafed and enjoyed a fire or 2 in the fireplace.. Connor just had to have them.. I turned off the A.C. and enjoyed opening the windows to get some fresh air- at least for now..

Here is hoping that everyone has an awesome week next week. I have a board meeting Monday night and my work is all done for tomorrow. Yippee!

Happy Birthday, Trav.. Mr. 10 lbs 8 ozs  Oct, 12, 1979.. 30 years old..

    No worries, Mates.. Take care..

  • The weekend is here! - Update at end

    Hello Friends,

The weekend is upon us. We already picked up Connor from his school bus and went out for Bar B Que sandwiches. Connor and Rex have settled into the den watching Scooby Doo movies again. Lee and Shelby are on their way. They did not make it last weekend because they got flooded in Central Texas and could not get off the base where they live. We only got a small amount of rain and the rest passed us by. Katie is supposed to be here, too. Jackson will be here in the morning, so ALL the grandkids will be here. It will be a dull roar, for sure.

Trav is going to get our firewood split in the morning and get more for our stash out back.  Can't wait for the first fire in the fireplace.. Rick mowed the side yard this afternoon and mentioned to Rex that he saw the back half of a snake about 2+ inches in diameter slither off into the yard behind us! Yikes! I will gladly keep all the kids inside this weekend!

The weather here has been nice and relatively cooler. Fall begins next week and let's hope the humid days don't come back for a long time. But, this is Texas, and who knows what will happen in 5 minutes!

Heather is doing fine and is almost 24 weeks along and only gained 4 lbs. Miss Emma is into her "Cheerleading mode of jumping and stretching". The ultrasound this week showed all to be going along nicely and she weighs about one and half lbs already. Can't wait to hold her in January. I can't pass up a baby clearance rack without a hand full of pink things going in the buggy.

Got a $100 a month raise at my employee review. Not the same as last year, but we all got the same raise, so it is better than nothing. PLUS, on December 1 our medical insurance premiums will go down by $30 each payday, so that is more for the savings!

Have been doing some Christmas shopping, little by little. Got to get it stashed away before L & S get here and see it!

Not much happening over our way. Just looking forward to a nice, lazy weekend. Hope all is well over your way. Have a wonderful weekend and take it easy.

Update: Rick could not meet Starfish to pick up the kids, so I met her!  First time we have seen each other in 5 years. She got out of the car, with her head down and did all she could to ignore me. I introduced myself to her new hubby and shook his hand, went over and hugged her! I told her I was glad she was happy.. Nothing she could do but smile! I made the kids hug their Mama goodbye and they couldn't get in the truck fast enough. I asked if the kids had eaten and they hadn't. I told them Granddaddy had cinnamon rolls from the oven waiting for them. I loaded them up and left.

    No worries, Mates!

  • Been crazy again..

    Hello Friends,

First off, I must wish Heather a wonderful, belated birthday. She was born on Sept. 2 and is now halfway thru her pregnancy with Emma Claire.  Heather, my sweet baby girl, may she provide you all the tears of joy and happiness that your provided us.  You were born on Labor Day, so tomorrow will have fond memories for me, too! 8 lbs 9 oz and coal, black hair and the bluest of blue eyes. What a doll you were and still are.

We finally got a bit of rain yesterday. About an inch and half. Summer parched us so badly that the ground was just dusty everywhere. Seems with El Nino back, we may get a wet, chilly winter again. Works for me! We just need to get the firewood split and we are good to go. I am in the mood for beans and ham again anyway..

Did a bit more Christmas shopping online at Lakeside Collection. Got a variety of things and something for everyone. Little by little I will get it done. Just have to get my list going or I will forget who gets what.. Rick has most of his done and wrapped and all paid in CA$H!

Katie was here and so was Connor this weekend. She is such a cutie and I love her red curls. Such soft baby fine hair. Katie is already home now and I just got Connor out of the bathtub all fresh and clean.

Trav spent most of the weekend at my sister's house reimaging her computers.. Seems a trojan visited her and left her with a useless computer and had problems with her work computer, too! Get McAfee Antivirus if you want to keep your computer around for a while.

Having tomorrow off will be so nice. It will be great to sleep late. I love watching Army Wives, but it comes on so late on Sunday night (9 CST) that I am dragging butt at work on Monday. Just looking forward to rest and loafing tomorrow while Rick barbeques. Have a nice day off, my friends!

I am off to hunt for my PJ's.. No worries, Mates!
